Pre Natal Yoga

At Sydney's Dharma Shala we offer specially tailored yoga classes for pregnant women.

Yoga is one of the best possible exercises a woman can take during pregnancy. Scientifically proven to decrease the duration, discomforts and complications of labour. (Complimentary therapies in clinical practice 2008 May;14(2):105-15. Epub 2008 Mar 4.)

Each yoga classes integrate:

  • vinyasa flow yoga

  • birthing movements

  • specific breathing techniques

  • simple meditation & visualisation

Regular classes are an opportunity to grow your health and confidence in your body, as you are your growing your baby. Mums who have participated in our program say that as well as alleviating their aches and pains over 9 months, Dharma Shala yoga prepares them emotionally, mentally and physically to have a beautiful and positive birth experience.

  • No prior experience of yoga necessary

  • Most women begin after 14 weeks

  • Please inform your teacher of any complications

  • All postures and movements are modified to suit all stages of pregnancy

  • No booking required

Birth Preparation

The comprehensive She Births course is a wonderful way to complement your prenatal yoga classes.

Taught by Nadine Richardson, childbirth educator, senior doula, specialist of pre and post natal yoga at the Dharma Shala.

Mums Gatherings & Women's Groups

We meet the first Tuesday of every month as a group and set up mothers circles monthly. See She Births for more information.
